FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
✰ WHAT INSPIRES YOU? WHERE DO YOU GET IDEAS FOR YOUR BOOKS?
Most of my inspiration comes from exploring and conversing with other people about my interests. This could be a conversation I had with friends and family or dreams and random thoughts I have throughout the day. The key for me is to reflect on my everyday interactions, chaotic dreams, and random thoughts, even if they don’t make sense, and try to come up with an alternate storyline. My inspiration for The Fall of Perrea came as a result of wondering about the origin of one of my favorite myths, the Grim Reaper, and then trying to think up alternate storylines that would be fun to explore. This method of brainstorming has allowed me to come up with some truly original and weird inspiration but sometimes through reflection inspiration strikes!
✰ Why did you pick “The Fall of Perrea” as your title?
The name Perrea is actually just the word Reaper scrambled, which was supposed to be an easter egg that alluded to her fate. I chose “The Fall” instead of something like “The Rise” because of the plot of the story but also figuratively because her whole reality kind of comes crashing down. The title was supposed to give the impression that Perrea’s fate as a result of being the Grim Reaper causes her demise.
✰ Are your characters inspired by real people?
No, if anything my characters reflect different versions or parts of my own personality and emotions. I really connect with the development of my characters and I’ve found drawing inspiration from my own experiences makes the characters feel more real.
